Abstract : An externally-heated ceramic flat plate, instrumented on both surfaces with short time response platinum film resistance thermometers, was used to compare the amplitude of the additional unsteady heat transfer rate, during oscillation in its own plane in a steady parallel air stream, with the corresponding steady state heat tranasfer rate without oscillation. The theoretical treatments considered the case of constant plate surface temperature, while practical experimental limitations produced an approximate parabolic surface temperature distribution.
