Abstract : When compared with other kinetic data, the time dependence of the emission of NO2 in shock waves in the vicinity of 2000 K supports the conclusion that the intensity follows (NO2) in this system. Study of the emission from the system of CH3NO2-Ar shows that NO2 appears following the shock, but that it has a very short lifetime, presumably reacting according to CH3+NO2 yields CH3O+NO. (Author)
