Abstract : The limitations and capabilities of various detectors, especially photomultipliers are reviewed. Two methods, use of constant response fluors and use of choppers, are suggested for improvement of photomultiplier responses. A new type of detector is discussed and suggested for further development. The use of a LiF thermoluminescent dosimeter for detection of electrons is described. Experimental work leading to the present functioning system is presented. The response of this system to Cobalt 60 gamma rays, uranium beta-rays and to 7 kev electrons is given. (Author)
