Abstract : A numerical procedure is developed for solving the complete Navier-Stokes equations; the resulting finite difference equations are analyzed for stability and the method is then applied to the determination of the viscous one-dimensional flow field in a supersonic nozzle containing a normal shock wave. It is shown that the method works and, hence, affords an extremely promising approach to the treatment of viscous flow fields involving more complex geometries. (Author)
