Abstract : The drag coefficients of a circular flat plate, 45 degree half-angle cone, sphere and hollow hemisphere in the wake of a forebody at transonic and supersonic speeds have been calculated from the drag of a two body system. In addition, a number of direct measurements were made as a supplement to the calculated values. The investigation was carried out at Mach numbers between 0.85 and 1.25 and at M 4.35. Body size and position in the wake were the selected parameters. The drag in the wake was less than in the free stream in all but a few cases in the transonic range, where it was about equal to the free stream drag. (Author)
