Abstract : The comparative study of Sb deposits from Sb and PtSb beads has been completed. Photoemission and light absorption of K3Sb have been investigated as a function of the Sb substrate. Experiments with S-20 cathodes formed on oxidized Sb substrates have been continued. K3Sb photocathodes have been prepared by the simultaneous deposition from molecular beams with sensitivities comparable to those processed conventionally. A new all-metal molecular gun with fast response and good stability has been developed. A new circuit for automatic control of the deposition from molecular beams has been constructed. Electron diffraction studies of S-1 cathodes have confirmed the presence of Ag and Cs2O in the finished cathodes. Alkali ion beams have been shown to be a promising source of alkali metal for photocathode preparation. Structural analysis of K3Sb as a function of processing has been initiated. Vapor etching and diffusion of Ge to produce p-n junctions for field induced photoemission have been carried out. (Author)
