Abstract : The elastic scattering of high-energy electrons from the magnetic dipole and magnetic octupole moments of light nuclei is calculated using shell model wave functions. The results of the calculation are compared with recent experimental results for Be-9 and B-11 and the possibility of obtaining a value for the magnetic octupole moment from an analysis of these experiments is discussed.
