Abstract : After a brief review and slight modifications of the basic equations developed in the first Final Technical Report, comprehensive calculations of the change with time of various initial size distributions are presented. It can be demonstrated that pronounced modifications of the size distributions of tropospheric aerosols are unlikely to occur for particle sizes larger than 0.1 to 0.2 microns during time intervals up to a week. In particular, size distributions in this range, whatever they may be, can not represent coagulation, or coagulation-sedimentation equilibria. An attempt was made to calculate equilibrium size distributions of tropospheric aerosols. The modifications of the chemical composition of aerosols are calculated and briefly discussed. Calculations are presented for the development of an ion counter of maximum sensitivity. (Author)
