Abstract : The synthesis of the bis-dipolarophile, m-diethynylbenzene (Ia) has been carried out. The reaction of this double dipolarophile with 3-phenylsydnone provided the model compound 1,1-diphenyl-3,3'-m-phenylenedipyrazole. The reaction of Ia with benzoylphenylhydrazide chloride gave a second model compounds, 1,1',3,3'-tetraphenyl-5,5'-m-phenylenedipyrazole. Three new polymers have been synthesized. The reaction of Ia with p-phenylene-3,3'-disydnone produced the polymer containing pyrazole units linked by alternate m- and p-phenylene groups. The reaction of the diacetylene with iso- and terephthaloylphenyl- hydrazide chloride in solution with triethyl amine afforded the corresponding pyrazole polymers. Thermogravimetric analyses indicate breaks in air above 400 C. (Author)
