Abstract : Techniques for producing low-cost, high efficiency, silicon web dendrite solar cells on an unbalanced pilot line are reported. Silicon dendritic web (0.5 x 12 in.) having thickness, resistivity, and crystal properties for device objectives was produced. Silicon dendritic web N-on-P solar cells (1.27 x 30.5 cm) were fabricated during the pilot run. Processes were designed to assure a yield of 75% of 9% minimum efficient cells. The distribution of yield based on solar cell efficiency was > or = 9%, 100%; > or = 10%, 68%; and > or = 11%, 18%. The overall physical yield was 78% during the operation of the unbalanced pilot line. (Author)
