Abstract : The following significant results were obtained in the past year: The magnitude of the observed non-thermal conductivity increase in the generator was found to be in good agreement with electron heating equation. The reduction of the Hall voltage below theoretical values was found to be due to the following causes: External Hall current leakage, electrode voltage losses, gas dynamic force effects, Lorentz force effects, and non-equilibrium ionization effects. If proper account of these losses is taken, the electrical characteristics of the linear Hall and Faraday generators are in good agreement with the generator theories of Hurwitz, Kilb and Sutton and of Dzung. Finally, it appears that by generator design modifications the Hall losses could be substantially reduced. (Author)
