Abstract : Efforts were continued on development of a 12-inch round cathode ray tube with electrostatic deflection and focus capable of presenting radar data with symbology at high speed for applications in tactical data processing systems and modular display. Three experimental cathode ray tubes were constructed for electron gun study. These are categorized as single-aperture, cathode adjacent modulation control types. Each represents a practical maximum effort to minimize the object size of an electron gun. Long persistence phosphors suitable for improved performance in low duty cycle character display and radar display were chosen for experimental study. These evolved to the magnetism fluoride types.
