Abstract : An experimental investigation was conducted to determine the liquid-vapor phase equilibria of the neon-normal hydrogen system. The experiment was run using a thermally insulated system of the vapor recirculation type, with facilities for accurately controlling the temperature and pressure and for sampling the equilibrium phases. The samples were analyzed by gas chromatography. The entire liquid-vapor region was covered by seven isotherms: 26.00, 28.00, 30.00, 34.66, 37.64, 39.57, and 42.50 K. The entire pressure region was covered, from 0 to 26 atm. The data are presented in both graphical and tabular form as the mole percent of both components versus the total pressure. A plot of the K-factors is also presented. The system forms an azeotrope at temperatures below the critical of hydrogen (33.19 K) in the region of low neon concentration. The two lowest isotherms indicate the formation of two liquid phases. The data are compared with other published data and for the most part check within experimental error. The analytical accuracy is probably + or - 3% or better, while the temperatures reported are + or - 0.05 K, and the pressures are + or - 0.1%. (Author)
