Abstract : The program Ceramic Memory for Ordnance Fuzing encompassed theoretical and experimental tasks whose purpose was to evaluate the feasibility of using ceramic material as a memory for ordnance timers. The memory property of various ceramics were studied, as were the parameters for operation as a multiport memory operating in the Kaufman mode. Compatible interrogation circuitry and simplified logic capable of eventual integration was also developed, concurrent with the optimum packaging configuration for a thirteen bit memory. Prototype memories were fabricated and evaluated both in the -55 to + 75 C temperature range and in an air gun to 30,000 g shocks. Circuitry was developed to empirically evaluate new concepts in the memory logic mechanization. The analytical and empirical study program has developed techniques and provided materials which meet the program objectives. (Author)
