Abstract : Spectral response measurements have been made on a number of cadmium telluride films wherein a variety of process procedures were evaluated. These included: Junction Forming Time, Substrate Pretreatment, Antimony vs. Copper Doping, Coatings and Post-Heat Treatment. Significant findings were: (1) Spectral response can be affected by the tailoring composition; (2) Shifts in spectral response can result from differences in substrate treatment. Long-term stability tests on cells stored under ambient environment have shown short-circuit current changes of -0.36% per month and maximum power changes of -0.18% per month when measured over time periods up to 32 months. Additional stability data was taken on other cells stored at 65 C. In air for 6-7 months. Higher temperature (126 C.) storage in air has been studied as a means for appraising process parameters in short time spans and also as a possible method for predicting degradation rates at lower temperatures.
