Abstract : This report summarizes the preproduction and reliability testing of 1,620 military type quartz crystal units. These included crystal units housed in standard HC-6/U and HC-27/U holders, units in cold-welded aluminum holders, and units in cold-welded copper holders. The crystal units procured for this program were of a more uniform, and higher, quality than those procured for the preceding study. Leakage, a major problem in the earlier study, was almost nonexistent. The aging characteristics and failure rates, by military type, by holder type, and in a composite form including all samples, are presented. (Author)
