Abstract : This is a report of a conference held at the Bromwoods Residence Center of Washington University. The focus is on the question of appropriate criteria for use in the appraisal of learning, especially in classroom situations. Conferees approached the problem from various points of view, including that of the experimental psychologist, the experimenter primarily concerned with research design and the investigator of training research in operational situations. Several studies in classroom learning were reported to illustrate various techniques under discussion. (Author)
