Abstract : The alloy system tungsten-carbon was investigated by means of X-ray, DTA, and melting point techniques on chemically analyzed alloys, and a complete phase diagram was established. Supplementary Investigations performed on the molybdenum-carbon system are in confirmation of our previous findings regarding the alpha-beta-Mo2C phase separation as well as the phase relations between eta - and alpha-MoC1-x. The results are discussed and compared with previously reported system data.
