Abstract : In order to compare factor structures from different groups of subjects, it is helpful to obtain a best-fitting factor structure, i.e. one which best approximates the factor structures being compared. This report compares the results of three methods for obtaining a best-fitting factor structure. The best results is from a principal axis factoring of the average of the approximated correlation matrices. Using the average manifest correlation matrix provides an equally good 'best fit' only for the factors corresponding to the larger eigenvalues. (Autor)
