Abstract : Measurements in boundary layers are discussed together with existing data and some new measurements in boundary layers in zero pressure gradient. It is shown that the small-scale turbulence is nearly universal, and that the large-eddy motion is nearly the same. Comparisons with the free mixing layer suggest that the large eddies consist of mixing jets.
