Abstract : It is the purpose of this note to study the application of cross - correlation techniques to determine the overall frequency response to random forces of a typical aerospace vehicle structure. The effect of truncation of the cross correlation function in the estimated cross spectrum is discussed with reference to a single degree of freedom system excited by white noise. Application to multi degree of freedom systems is discussed and an ullustration is given of the use of the technique in the analysis of panel vibration in a typical rear fuselage excited by jet noise.
