Abstract : Manned satellite experiments presently under consideration include the problem of autonomous determination and subsequent correction or orbital position by a crew member. The study of this problem includes two principal areas, namely: the type of equipment to be used by the crew (i.e., the types of measurements to be taken), and the errors associated with a particular instrumentation set. These errors can be categorized as errors arising from the instruments themselves, and errors arising from assuming a force model not identical to the one in which the measurements are made. The study of force model error with an instrumentation set including a pointing and tracking scope, an inertial reference package, and a star tracker is the subject of this report. (Author)
