Abstract : The effect of re-entrant vee-steps on the performance of planing surfaces is analyzed. Formulae are developed for the lift, drag, center of pressure and wetted area at high aspect ratio. It is found that the lift-drag ratio of the planing surface decreases as the re-entrant step angle becomes more acute. (Author)
