Abstract : Radiocardiography by means of the indicator 131 iodine albumin was selected as a method of determining cardiac output in man with a minimum of disturbance of the subject. The essential contribution to the method was the reduction of the dose of indicator. The dose was small enough so that three serial determinations could be made without exposing the subject to an unacceptable amount of radiation. The method was validated by making simultaneous determinations of cardiac output by means of the dye dilution method. The coefficient of correlation between the two methods was 0.79 in a series of 190 pairs of determinations. (Author)
