Abstract : Fourteen zinc inorganic silicate protective coatings (both postcured and selfcured) and one zinc-rich epoxy protective coating were applied to 42 deck sections and other work areas of the USS ARD-12 for a 2-year, in-service field test. After 13 months' exposure, which included five dockings, the postcured coatings, as a class, were significantly superior to the selfcured coatings. The zinc-rich epoxy coating also showed superior performance. (Author)
