Abstract : Radio observations of Mercury at 3.4 mm from July to October 1965 showed, contrary to expectation, brightness temperatures of only about 200 K, even when major fractions of Mercury's illuminated hemisphere were observed. In addition, no significant variation with phase was observed. The 3.4-mm radio emission from the quasi-stellar radio source 3C 273 was observed over twelve months. The observations indicate that variations in flux by a factor of approximately 2 occur in a few months. (Author)
