Abstract : The small signal high-frequency behavior of parallel-plane space-charge-limited diodes having oxide cathodes is developed from the known results of some fundamental studies of electron-inertia effects and characteristics of the oxide cathode at low and high-frequencies. An equation is given showing how the high-frequency diode impedance and the low and high-frequency components of diode plate current, expected in the ideal case, are modified by the oxide cathode characteristics. The modified equation obtained shows that the influence of the conditions at the cathode have a greater relative influence on close spaced tubes than on wide spaced tubes. Also, the difficulty of obtaining negative diode resistances is partly explained. The analysis is limited to the case in which the applied anode voltage is very much greater than the voltage equivalent of the cathode temperature. (Author)
