Abstract : Anodic cooxidation of (CH2)4O:HNF2 and (CH3)3COH gave (CH3)3CF. With CH3OH, the products of anodic oxidation in the presence of (CH2)4:HNF2 were CH3OCH2NF2, CH3OCH2NF2, CH3OCH(NF2)OCH3, and CH3OCHO. The electrolysis of C5H5N:HNF2 and B(OCH3)4(-) on graphite gave a mixture of CH3ONO and N2F4. The methyl nitrite is believed to be a decomposition product of the desired CH3ONF2. The anodic oxidation of the derivatives of 2,2,2-trifluoro ethanol on platinum in acetonitrile gave CF3CH2OCF3 and (CF3CH2O)2. A cogeneration of CF3CH2O and NF2 radicals was not achieved. Perfluoroformamide and its alkali metal salts, N2F4, and HNF2 with t-butyl hypochlorite and t-butyl peroxide as (CH3)3CO gave no direct evidence for the formation of (CH3)3CONF2. Attempts to prepare CH3ONF2 by direct fluorination of CH3ONH2 in H2O or CH3CN solution were unsuccessful. A new compound was formed from bis-(fluoroformyl) peroxide, BFFP, and KF and was isomeric with BFFP. Mass spectral data and F(19) nmr confirmed the structure as the ozonide of difluoroketene (2,3,5-trioxa-4,4-difluorocyclopentanone). Cesium fluoride and BFFP gave good yields of (CF3OO)2C=O and CF3OOC(O)F. (Author)
