Abstract : Erosion measurements were made using copper-tungsten as an electrode material. The erosion rates for this material were far below the erosion rates for other electrode materials shown in the literature. Tests were performed with and without a saturable reactor in the anode circuit. With the saturable reactor, a reduced electrode erosion was observed. Various triggering schemes were evaluated. Ultraviolet light decreased the time jitter from 0.4 microsecond to below 5 nanosceconds. The same result was achieved by compressedair cooling of the electrodes. (Author)
