Abstract : A method was devised for the compositional analysis of foil and liquid samples with n components (n>or=2). The method requires that in an n component system, measurements of the linear absorption be made at n different wavelengths for the unknown, and for the n pure materials that constitute the unknown. With measurements the thickness of the unknown is also determined. Matrix algebra is shown to be the necessary method of analysis when dealing with large numbers of components. (Author)
