Abstract : This report describes a trilateration technique which would be advantageous for the rapid positioning of mobile electronic equipment. Specifically positioned were two vertices of a test quadrilateral. Slope distance measurements were made with the electrotape DM-20. Azimuth control was obtained by use of Wild T-3 theodolites. The results of positioning the two unknown points were compared to positions previously obtained by triangulation for the points. The minimum accuracy for the distance measurements was calculated at 1 part in 87,617. The maximum positional and aximuth errors were 7.5 inches and 3.75 seconds respectively. (Author)
