Abstract : Results of experimental research to study the effect of exposure at different atmospheric conditions on the shear strength of three-member joints of 5/8-inch Douglas-fir plywood nail-glued to 2 by 6 Douglas-fir are given. The factors investigated included joints assembled at the same and at different moisture contents, joints with the face grain of the plywood oriented at 0F, 30F, 45F, and 90F with the grain of the solid wood and exposure of the joints to indoor storage, outdoor storage, and cycling between controlled atmospheres of relatively high and low relative humidity.
