Abstract : The period was devoted mainly to the design, construction, procurement, and testing of the equipment necessary to the task performance. Several films, however, were manufactured, characterized, and subjected to alpha bombardment. During this irradiation, both propagating and, more significantly, nonpropagating pulses were observed. The amplitudes of these self-recovering pulses varied from 100 micro-v to 300 micro-v, nearly an order of magnitude larger than calculated. The pulse widths at half maximum were 20 ns, the limit of the equipment. Critical current vs temperature data for several films are consistent with the results reported by others. (Author)
