Abstract : Enough data have now been accumulated and empirically correlated that fairly accurate predictions may be made as to the chemical shift values of the boron-11 nucleus and boron-hydrogen spin-coupling values of triligand and tetraligand boron compounds. Boron-fluorine spin coupling is discussed. Triligand and tetraligand boron compounds differ, in several cases, in the direction of chemical shift change upon substitution of hydrogen by another element; structural identification is thus allowed. B-H spin coupling in the carboranes and boron hydrides is discussed. Where practicable B(11)-H, C(13)-H, and B(11)-F, C(13)-F spin coupling values are compared. Delta and J values of mixed boron trihalides are given as are the values of BH3CO and BH3PF3. (Author)
