Abstract : The conventional procedure for catalyst selection, which is often a rather expensive process, is to test each catalyst individually. The purpose of this note is to point out that here is an area ideally suited for the application of group screening. In this method, factors are initially tested in groups and then those groups which appear to contain the most effective factors are studied further. Experimental results from a screening study on catalysts for the oxidation of methane indicate that considerable savings are possible. In this investigation fourteen commercially available catalysts were screened in essentially seven runs. (Author)
