Abstract : Estimates of seasonal, latitudinal, day-to-day and diurnal variations in the horizontal and vertical distribution of atmospheric density are provided for altitudes up to 90 km. The rates of decay of inter-level correlations with layer separation for the region 48 to 70 km are compared to those computed for levels between 12 and 26 km. The day-to-day variability in height of constant density surfaces is also examined with special emphasis on levels near 8 km, approximate location of the well-known isopycnic level. (Author)
