Abstract : Measurements, of linewidth of Rayleigh scattering due to diffusion were completed. Small discrepancies between theory and experimental data were traced to Doppler shift effects produced by thermal convection in the solvent, and were subsequently eliminated. In an auxiliary experiment, this same Doppler effect was studied with the solvent current controlled mechanically. Results indicate that this effect can be used as a technique in fluid flow measurements.
