Abstract : The Air Force Airman Qualifying Examination (AQE) yields 4 aptitude indexes (General, Administrative, Mechanical, and Electronics) which are used in the selective recruiting, enlistment, and initial assignment of basic airmen. This report presents distributions in percentile form of the four AQE aptitude indexes for nationwide groups of 12th grade boys, 18-year-old boys, and 15-year-old boys based on equivalent aptitude composites of Project TALENT tests. Distributions are also given for 12th grade boys by region of the country, and, for those planning to enlist immediately after high school graduation, by the branch of the military service in which they plan to serve. These data are designed to be useful to recruiters as indications of the aptitude potential available to them and to high school guidance counselors as an aid in interpreting AQE scores achieved by their students.
