Abstract : The differential equations for the one-dimensional, varying-area channel flow of a perfect gas in the presence of a magnetic field are formulated under the restriction that the electric field be zero. The solutions are presented in analytical and graphical form. The results show that with increasing magnetic field the sonic point moves downstream from the channel's throat and that, in general, a larger exit area is needed to obtain a given supersonic flow Mach number.
