Abstract : Measurements of both temperature and total radiant energy were made for two propellants designated by Picatinny Arsenal. Data were obtained for chamber pressures ranging from 400 to 1200 PSIG. Flame temperatures for the two propellants were not significantly different probably due to the selection of downstream points of measurements. In measuring radiant energy a photographic photometry method was employed. Since photographic materials have limited exposure latitude a dual image device was constructed to permit simultaneous recording of both bright and dim versions of the same image. A beam splitter and mirrors produced two essentially identical images and neutral filters introduced into one optical path reduced the intensity of one image. (Author)
