Abstract : A brief summary of atmospheric effects is presented, principally those due to the ionosphere, which affect the accuracy of radar tracking systems when used to observe space vehicles at heights of several hundred miles or more above the surface of the earth. The intent is to indicate the magnitude of irreducible tracking errors and their dependence on the radar system operating frequency. (Author)
