Abstract : Time-varying control system analysis is approached as an extension of well-understood constant-coefficient concepts. For system characterization, kernel functions and system functions are evolved by analogy with their constant-coefficient counterparts -- weighting functions and transfer functions. For quantitative response information, a constant-coefficient series technique is developed in which the sum of a few constant-coefficient system responses is often sufficient to approximate the response of a time-varying system. The qualitative response or stability nature of certain time-varying systems is also treated. Several examples are given to illustrate each concept presented. (Author)
