Abstract : The effect of collisions on the giant quantum oscillations in the acoustic absorption of metals is studied. It is predicted that the giant oscillations will disappear and then reappear as the acoustic frequency is increased. The disappearance occurs for frequencies in the range of the electron collision frequency; thus the effect offers a new method of studying the electron relaxation time. (Author)
