Abstract : Two classical methods for the numerical solution of ordinary differential equations are to approximate the function to be integrated either by a polynomial or as the sum of exponentials. The purpose of this note is to demonstrate that polynomial approximation method is a special, degenerate form of the exponential approximation method.
