Abstract : When three turning points occur in the effective potential, the region between the two inner turning points is associated with classically bound trajectories or quantummechanically metastable states. The effect of this portion of the effective potential-energy curve on the semiclassical phase shifts and transport cross sections is discussed. (Author)
