Abstract : The lateral geniculate nucleus and the visual cortex are considered on the base of the linear systems theory. An attempt is made at determining their transfer functions in conditions of retinal dark adaptation and under stimulation with steady, diffuse, white light of different intensity. The experiments were conducted in cats under barbiturate anesthesia, by monitoring activity in the input and output fiber tracts to these structures with both micro- and gross-electrodes. (Author)
