Abstract : An attempt was made to investigate the manner in which earth is ejected ballistically from a nuclear cratering experiment. Eighty-eight radioactive pellets (Co60) were buried at known locations and depths prior to the event. After detonation a vehicle-mounted gamma scanner was used to survey the predicted angle of ejection and the northwest quadrant from ground zero. No preshot planted Co60 sources were recovered.
