Abstract : Two or more particles diffuse on the same line. Each moves independently of the others according to the Brownian movement (Wiener process) except when collisions occur. An assumption is made about what happens at collisions. It is shown that if initially the particles are sprinkled on the line according to a Poisson process with rate 1, then the displacement of a single particle, for large time, has approximately a Gaussian distribution with standard deviation (2t/pi) to the 1/4 power, rather than t to the 1/2 power as in the case of an unimpeded particle.
