Abstract : The article concerns sitalls (devitric ceramics or pyroceramics) which are a class of glass-crystal materials. Sitalls possess high resistance to fire and heat, stand up well under sharp changes in temperature, and are distinguished by their hardness and high mechanical strength, as compared with glass. They are characterized by splendid electrical insulation properties. The low density in connection with the high mechanical indices makes it possible to use them in a number of cases as very effective building material.
