Abstract : The report describes the results of a study of the extinction and scattering of thermal radiation by optically thin clouds of small particles. The mass extinction coefficient, the angular distribution of scattered radiation and the ratio of scattering to extinction is reported for particles of aluminum, carbon, glass, iron and silica. The particles have average sizes of a few microns. Measurements are made for wave length ranges from 0.7 microns to 15 microns. (Author)
